The purpose of this training program is to upskill mental health workers in supporting people experiencing prolonged grief in a therapeutic setting.

Developed for people working in mental health care, Application of Prolonged Grief Theories explores evidence-informed treatment options and the tools developed by key grief and bereavement academics and therapists.

  • the successful completion of Griefline’s Understanding Prolonged Grief Training Program is a prerequisite to accessing this course.
  • Successful completion of this course may be attributed to 4 CPD hours. Please check with your membership organisation to confirm whether this program meets their CPD requirements.

What you'll learn

  • Assess the extent of a client’s distress and functional capacity by using validated assessment tools.
  • Differentiate between prolonged grief disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and depression.
  • Describe the research focus and evidence-informed therapeutic techniques of key academics pertaining to prolonged grief.
  • Practice and apply a range of interventions that can be used in therapeutic settings to target specific client needs.
  • Prepare a simple case/problem formulation and treatment plan for a client experiencing prolonged grief disorder (PGD).
  • Apply techniques to address emotional dysregulation.
